You have to control yourself so that you value good morals more. It will make you a better person. Values prevent people from doing bad things because as a human your feelings and values fight each other. Since some people are more emotional than others, they tend to go with their feelings. Feelings can get in the way and seem like the better choice. But not every situation is bad, sometimes you have to pick your feelings. You just have to know when to choose your feelings or values.

This quote means that because everyone is doing it doesn't make it okay for you to do. For example if you see other people cheating, you think "Oh, everyone is doing it so it's okay" so you cheat too, but your fate sealed when you cheat. You might get to the point where you cheat almost every time you have a test, you will end up getting caught. Everyone might be doing something but for you do it too just makes you a follower and you want to be leader. You can choose to ignore them and let them deal with there own problems or you can be a follower and possible set yourself up for destruction. You make your own decisions and you shouldn't let others influence you. Following others most of the time only leads you bad things, because you can't let others control your life. I prefer to be a leader since i don't want to be someone i am not by following other people. Another example is drugs, alcohol, and smoking, it can affect you if you fall into peer pressure
