This quote means that the people around will effect you, whether it be good or bad, that depends on what type of people you hang out with. If you hang around with the wrong crowd you will become just like that. But if you hang around good people, nothing bad will happen to you. That's why you have to be careful of who you let into your life. You have to know when to let go of relationships when you know they won't end up well. You have to ask yourself "Will my friends try to convince to do bad things?", if the answer is yes then you better get new friends. The same goes for relationships, if you know they are going to hurt you in the end, then it will be better if you end it. Even though it might seem mean to end a friendship/relationship like that, you don't want to get hurt in the end. That's why the type you hang around with determine if you will become a good or bad person.

This quote means that because everyone is doing it doesn't make it okay for you to do. For example if you see other people cheating, you think "Oh, everyone is doing it so it's okay" so you cheat too, but your fate sealed when you cheat. You might get to the point where you cheat almost every time you have a test, you will end up getting caught. Everyone might be doing something but for you do it too just makes you a follower and you want to be leader. You can choose to ignore them and let them deal with there own problems or you can be a follower and possible set yourself up for destruction. You make your own decisions and you shouldn't let others influence you. Following others most of the time only leads you bad things, because you can't let others control your life.
